“Samantha Lucas is the most passionate person I’ve ever met. She teaches me and inspires me every day to be myself and reach my fullest potential. Everyone needs to have a journey with Samantha in their life whether it’s a friend, relationship, teacher, or someone to talk to. Because I knew Samantha I have learned how to control my breath within singing and how to release my heart within a piece of music. When I’m with Samantha I know I can be my utter true self she never judges she never complains she’s just there to help you and make you the best person you could ever be. I love you, Sam.”

“Samantha is a phenomenal music teacher. She has been teaching my eight-year-old daughter both in person and via zoom (with zoom lessons being equally successful). My daughter is shy, and Sam helps my daughter to open up and shine. Sam has nurturing approach, but yet she plans her lessons meticulously and teaches my daughter to be organized and set/work towards goals. I feel so lucky to have found Sam; she is not only teaching voice, she is teaching life skills and a growth mindset.”

“Working with Samantha has been one of my best experiences. She's not only your teacher but a friend. When I started vocal lessons my voice was breathy, and I didn't know how to control it. Samantha helped me tremendously, and anyone would be lucky enough to work with her!”

“Sam is one of the best performers and teachers I know! She meets the student where they are at and builds up their knowledge and musical abilities utilizing their strengths. She addresses their weaknesses in a constructive way to round out instruction and create a holistic approach. I highly recommend Sam for any student!”

“Samantha has made an incredible impact on my singing journey. She has been patient, kind, and very helpful throughout every lesson. After only a few lessons I could see the difference in how I was singing. Most of all, she has believed in me and shown that she truly cares that I do my best. I have grown tremendously with Sam and I can’t to see how her teaching helps me improve next! Not only is she a phenomenal teacher, but also a great friend.”

“Samantha Lucas is Fun, Energetic, and Kind. Every-time I have a Lesson with her I always have a smile on my face. During the Lessons she always makes you prepared for the song that you are going to be doing. I never feel off track or confused. My favorite thing about being her student is being around such a positive teacher. She always has a smile on her face and is happy to help me with anything. Most importantly she really cares about her students and always asks how i am doing and how my week was.  Being her student has not only made me a better singer but a better person.”

Teaching Philosophy

Introduction:

As an artist and educator, I approach my lessons with positive energy, passionate integrity, and open curiosity. I provide an atmosphere that is structured, but at the same time allows students to experiment, question, and feel comfortable taking risks in order to communicate their fullest expression. I encourage active learning, personal inquiry, experimentation, and critical thinking as tools for artistic growth. I believe that singing can stimulate both intellectually and physically. I teach to inspire, connect, communicate, share my knowledge, and express my joy of the art.

Aspirations/Goals/Objectives:

As a teacher, I encourage my students to develop a strong technical foundation, a keen sense of the body in relationship to the voice, an appreciation for the art form, and a deep appreciation for their unique artistic expression. To reach these goals I will incorporate the following methods into my lessons: a technical and mind to body-based warm-up that each student will commit to memory, an educated and informed process that each student may use to take with them to their artistic endeavors (other studios, auditions, jobs, etc.), and exercises that will be based in creative improvisation and collaboration.

Mission:

1.     To enhance each student’s unique sound and find the most freedom in their instrument.

2.     To provide each student with performance opportunities that will allow them to build confidence as well as leadership skills.

3.     To strengthen each student’s overall musicianship skills.

4.     To encourage each student to discover their most creative and artistic expression.

Interaction with Students:

“Form, ease, beauty, and a sense of the whole” (Michael Chekov).

I am passionate about the artistic growth of each individual student and artist. Using a combination of these four principles, I will approach each student differently depending on their individual needs for growth.

Conclusion:

In accessing the progress of each student and individual artist, I look forward to learning, growing, and improving my teaching abilities as I strengthen each student’s technique, knowledge, discipline, artistry, body, and mindset.
